A man is suing the district health service after an alleged cancer misdiagnosis that led to 80% of his stomach being removed.
A cancer misdiagnosis lead to 80% removal of a man's stomach and 7 sessions of chemotherapy. Graham Lord, 59, from New South Wales (NSW) is suing the Central Coast Local Health District for this gross medical error. On the basis of pathology lab results from the Gosford Hospital, Mr. Lord was told that he has stomach cancer. However, 6-weeks later, doctors at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital, where Mr. Lord underwent the operation, told him he never had gastric cancer.
Mr. Lord has lost 20 kilograms, cannot eat sitting down and suffered from anxiety and depression. He now expects an apology and a payout from the Central Coast Local Health district.
