New recommendations to increase training as well as number of childcare workers need to be welcomed.
Prue Warrilow, the national convener of Australian Community Children Services has said that the new recommendations to increase training as well as number of childcare workers need to be welcomed.
"Determining minimum qualifications and ensuring that there are early childhood degree qualified working with children is fantastic," she said. "And certainly improving the ratios for children, because most states have a one to five ratio for children aged nought to two years, which is just a ratio of neglect."Ms Warrilow also said that child workers needed a high level of education as they had to handle small kids with different needs.
She also added that cost of childcare for parents would increase if new recommendations were included, but said that parents would accept it happily if the quality of care for their children was high.
