Torbay Council in Devon, UK has launched a controversial poster campaign to encourage pet owners to clean up the mess made by the animals. The poster shows a child eating dog poop with the slogan: 'Children will put anything in their mouths'.
"Dog poo on our streets, parks and beaches looks bad, smells bad, and is offensive to local people and visitors," said local councillor Dave Butt. "The visual image chosen for our campaign is as disgusting as dog fouling itself and serves as a reminder that only by working together can we take action against offenders."Mr Butt said incidence of dog poo on the streets had fallen from 400 in April to 185 in June. "We did not have any complaints, but we did have people ringing us to say it was about time and they were pleased we went in so hard," he added.
The posters also warn dog owners that they will face a fine of £75 if they do not clean up.
