High street store Boots will soon be selling home paternity test kits.
High street store 'Boots' will soon be selling home paternity test kits. This over-the-counter DNA swab will cost 29.99pounds and will come along with a DVD consisting of instructions. These swabs then have to be tested at a UK lab for an extra 129pounds. Anyone over 16years of age can avail this test. Samples have to be collected from the mother, father and the child. Both the parents are required to sign a consent form along with identity proof. Oxford-based Bioethics expert Dr Helen Watt said, "The test could be harmful long-term if the child is not told, but grows up sensing that things are 'different' and that there is some mystery, or that something is 'wrong' with him or her."
However Boots maintained, "This test provides peace of mind for those of our customers who may be seeking reassurance with paternity matters."
