Lack of Sleep can Cause People to Eat More
A recent Columbia university study found that people who do not sleep adequately tend to eat more, which could be anywhere in excess of 300 calories per day. Worse, they also happen to make unhealthy food choices.
During the study, researchers found that subjects who slept for only 4 hours at night ate approximately 300 calories more than what they would normally eat when they had rested well for about 9 hours. The additional calories also came from foods that were high in saturated fat.

Previous studies have also pointed to the link between sleep and obesity. The rationale behind this occurrence is that sleep deprivation hampers the body’s ability to function at its best, and the body ends up storing fat.
