The most recent child protection report by Australia's Institute of Health and Welfare has pointed out that there were below 10,000 notifications to child protection services in Tasmania during the last financial year. This is 500 less than the figures of the previous year. Investigators received 1500 cases of which 880 cases were substantiated. Further, there was a 18% drop in the number of substantiated cases.
According to The Minister for Children, Lin Thorp, the child protection system is making a huge difference, but it is still not time to rest on laurels.
