Mum’s Happiness is the Key to Children’s Happiness
A new study has found that children are more likely to be happy when their mothers are happy in their relationships while a father’s happiness makes no difference to his offspring. Only 55% of youngsters reported to be ‘completely satisfied’ with their family life even though their mums were unhappy.
About 40,000 children from UK aged 10-15years were part of the study that was conducted by the Understanding Society. These children were asked about their family lives. Researchers examined the relationships between married or cohabiting partners, and relationships between parents and their children. Studies revealed that relationships with mothers and fathers were the most important indicator of happiness and children who lived with both parents (either biological or step) were seen to be the most content.

These findings show that family relationships and the happiness of parents is the key to the happiness of youngsters.
