American socialite Nicole Richie has landed in hospital after complaining of feeling badly for days.

The actress was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for pneumonia.

The 28-year-old's rep assured fans that the star was "doing well," after dismissing reports she was suffering from the swine flu last week, reports People magazine.

Richie previously posted updates on Twitter page saying she had been battling illness.

She wrote: "ok cold, it's been 6 days. Lets part ways graciously and keep it moving."
