WHO Says 2.5 Million People Die from Alcohol-related Issues Globally
The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that over 2.5 million people across the world die from alcohol-related issues annually. The leading health authority also said that alcohol is now the leading killer worldwide.
The WHO also said that some 320,000 people of the 2.5 million are between 15 and 29 years of age. These numbers are alarming and have now prompted the 193-member WHO to pass a resolution that focuses on the harmful effects of alcohol.

Some of the policies that are being mooted by WHO include health services' responses, community action, pricing policies and reducing public health impact of illicit alcohol. Member countries have been urged to support positive measures in these directions.
