The Bangalore Police are investigating the suicide case of Durgi Shekhavath, who hanged herself due to a 6-month suspension from academic activities.
The Bangalore Police are investigating the suicide case of 22-year
MBBS student, Durgi Shekhavath, who hanged herself due to a 6-month suspension
from academic activities since she was caught for malpractice in an internal
exam.
The MS Ramaiah College management had informed the concerned
Head of the Department. This incident was also referred to the disciplinary
committee of the college. Durgi was found
guilty of the charges and she also confessed in writing to the charges leveled
against her. Therefore, the management handed over a 6-month suspension order
to Durgi.
Durgi's father, Hanuman Shikhavath has filed FIR with the Sanjaynagar Police. However,
the college management has maintained that a similar policy was adopted by the institution
in other cases of academic misconduct and dishonesty.
