Students and doctors take part in the rally at Mysore

About 1000 medical students and doctors participated in a rally held in Mysore.The rally progressed through the city and ended at the Deputy Commissioner's office. The participants were from different medical colleges like JSS Medical College, Mysore Medical College, and junior doctors. The significance of the rally is that they were protesting against the Centre decision regarding the reservation of 27 % of seats in higher education for OBCs.

At the deputy commissioner’s office the processionist submitted a memorandum to S Selva Kumar, asking the Union Government to pull out the order immediately. They also shouted slogans against the Centre and Union Human Resources Minister Arjun Singh. Traffic was affected in many places due to the procession. On the other end the hunger strike conducted by the medicos in front of the Cheluvamma Hospital was progressing in to its sixth day. All this have affected the public and the services provided by the K R Hospital especially in the emergency sectors.
