Ramdoss heads the governing body of the AIIMS.
Health Minister of India Anbumoni Ramdoss justified the increase in the fees for lab tests and treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), saying that this was necessary to maintain the quality of the services. This is incidentally the first time that a hike is taking place at the institution since 1995. The budget of the AIIMS is at Rs. 420 crores while the revenue generated by it is only between Rs.12 to Rs.25 crores. Ramdoss heads the governing body of the AIIMS.
The increase in rates are being criticized as it will reportedly take the cost of the services of AIIMS beyond the reach of the country’s poor.
