Rice Noodles (Idiyappam or Sevai)

Ingredients:

  • Rice Flour – 2 cups
  • Water – 4 Cups
  • Salt– A Pinch

Preparation

Recipe1

  1. Heat the Water
  2. When it boils add the rice flour
  3. Stir well till it acquires a paste-like consistency.
  4. Make small balls out of it.
  5. Squeeze it through the small holes of 'sevai press' onto a plate
  6. Steam it for a few minutes
  7. Serve it with coconut milk.

Recipe 2

  1. Dry rice noodles can be purchased from the super market directly
  2. This is soaked in the hot water for 3 - 5 minutes
  3. The water is drained and the rice noodles is ready to eat
  4. It can be taken with coconut milk.

Recipe 3

  1. Take the cooked rice noodles
  2. Season it with 1 Spoon o mustard, black gram, 1 chilly, and a Pinch of asafetida
  3. Add some salt and lemon juice in the rice noodles
  4. Mix well and serve

Indications:

  • It is very light to digest
  • It is pathya (wholesome diet)
  • It balances Vata and Pitta.
  • Suitable for all the conditions
  • Should be taken warm

  1. Fever - with warm water
  2. Diarrhea - with buttermilk & little rock salt
  3. Anorexia - Lemon flavored, tomato flavored, onion flavored rice noodles
  4. Stomach disorders - Lemon flavored rice noodles
    During detoxification (pancha karma) therapy - Lemon flavored rice noodles, rice noodles with buttermilk and rock salt
  5. Emancipation - Rice noodles with coconut milk. Rice noodles with milk, ghee, palm sugar, dry fruits and nut. During Pregnancy - Rice noodles with coconut milk. Rice noodles with milk, ghee, palm sugar, dry fruits and nut.
