Elephant Yam Recipe

English name: Elephant Yam

Preparation

Ingredients

  • Elephant yam - 200 gm
  • Turmeric - 1 pinch
  • Green chilly - 1
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Rock salt - to taste
  • Sesame oil - 2 spoons
  • Curry leaves - few

Method

Steam cook the yam and remove the external skin. Crush it and make it like a paste. Add this to a seasoning of mustard, green chilly and turmeric in sesame oil. Add rock salt and mix well. Garnish it with curry leaves.

Hi, the amount of coconut is not clear in the recipe-the units are missing. is it 1/2 TBS?

It seems like all the flavours are competing with one another - andasafoetida is an aquired taste. I will persevere and eat it because I love beetroot, but I don't think i will make it again, sorry!
