115 New Swine Flu Cases In Maharashtra

A total of 115 new cases of swine flu were reported in the last 24 hours in Maharashtra, taking the total number of people affected by the virus to 2,501 so far this year. The state reported 10 new swine flu deaths on Sunday raising the toll from 201 to 211.


Of the 10 reported deaths, four are from Pune, two are from Mumbai and one each from Ahmadnagar, Aurangabad, Latur and Washim.

After successful treatment, the number of patients discharged from the hospital is 1,901. Around 392 patients are still recovering in different health care facilities across the state. Of this, 37 patients are in a critical condition and have been put on ventilator.

Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minster of the state, said, "We have found 90 percent of the swine flu cases only in five cities - Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nagpur and Latur and the government is concentrating on them only. All the precautionary steps have been taken to control the epidemic."

Maharashtra is the fifth worse swine flu hit state after Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi and Telangana. Nagpur, the second capital of Maharashtra has reported the highest number of deaths due to swine flu followed by Mumbai and Pune.
