39000 Years Old Woolly Mammoth Found Frozen in Japan

In Yokohama, an almost perfectly conserved frozen mammoth was presented to the media.

The 3-meter-tall mammoth, which was excavated in 2010 from the permafrost in eastern Siberia, will be put on exhibit from Saturday in Yokohama, the Japan Times reported.

The member of the extinct species is a 10-year-old female and is believed to have died about 39,000 years ago.

The solidified body was named 'Yuka' after Russia's Sakha (Yakutia) Republic, where it was discovered and is thought to be one of the world's largest.

Yuka has a long trunk, arms and legs preserved in nearly perfect state.
