Drinking more than a cup of coffee per day reduces the risk of stroke by 25% in women. The research was conducted at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. Researchers have also found that drinking more than one cup of coffee in a day can lower the risk of diabetes and liver cancer in women.

This could be because coffee reduces inflammation and improves insulin sensitivity. Coffee contains anti-oxidants which prevent diseases.

The findings of the study are based on 10-year health records of 35,000 women, aged from 49-83years and have been published in the latest edition of the 'Stroke' journal.
