All It Takes to Cut Risk of Stroke
It will be surprising to know that cutting the risk of stroke is easy and achievable by just following Life's Sample 7 health factors.
According to a study published in the journal Stroke, Life's Sample 7 health factors include - "eat a healthy diet, manage blood pressure, maintain healthy weight, control cholesterol levels, be active, control blood sugar and avoid smoking."
In this study, the risk of stroke was assessed based on the American Heart Association guidelines. "We used the assessment tool to look at stroke risk and found that small differences in health status were associated with large reductions in stroke risk," Mary Cushman, M.D., M.Sc., senior author and professor of medicine at the University of Vermont in Burlington, said.
The study found that risk of stroke could be predicted with the help of the seven health factors. Among the seven factors, ideal pressure seemed to be a crucial indicator.
Researchers also found that even a one point improvement in health scores was connected to 8 percent reduced risk of stroke. Those who brought their blood pressure to the ideal level carried a 60 percent lowered risk of stroke.
