by Savitha C Muppala on March 19, 2011 at 9:05 PM

Allergic rhinitis, characterized by coughing, sneezing , watery eyes and even breathing difficulties , is quite common during this season with nearly 40% of children suffering this condition.

Ash, Oak and Elm trees are the most notorious during this season for causing allergies.

Nearly $11.2 billion is spent on allergy medication by Americans. Treatment may involve the use of anti-histamines, like, cetirizine loratadine, and fexofenadine, and nasal corticosteroid sprays. Allergy shots or allergen immunotherapy is also used as a cure for this condition.
