Amitabh Bachchan Offers Support to Government Campaign on Hepatitis B

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has offered to support the governments campaign on creating awareness about various health issues, especially Hepatitis B.


Bachchan and his wife and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan, on April 6 met Union Health Minister J P Nadda at his residence and expressed his keen interest to spread awareness on various health issues.

Nadda tweeted: "Met Shri @SrBachchan and Ms Jaya Bachchan today at my residence in Delhi. Happy to inform that Shri @SrBachchan showed a keen interest in helping to create awareness on health issues. I thank Shri @SrBachchan for offering his support to the health ministry for creating awareness on health issues especially Hepatitis B and TB."

Nadda said he was very impressed by the humility and social commitment of the senior Bachchan and expressed his gratitude for offering his services to the Ministry for creating awareness on Hepatitis B and tuberculosis.

Bachchan tweeted: "The start of another mission - the awareness for Hepatitis B� meeting authorities to take this forward - like Polio and TB."

The Health Ministry already launched "TB Harega, Desh Jeetega", a major nationwide campaign featuring Bachchan.

The Bollywood megastar has been associated with UNICEF as a Global Ambassador for eradication of polio virus since 2005. His active campaigning for the cause, coupled with other factors, helped India to achieve its polio-free status.
