"This is a blessing for Indian oncologists. Asia accounts for 60% of all types of cancers. In the conference, we will learn on how and what new treatment we have for cancers across the world," said K.S. Gopinath, chairman of the conference committee.
As per the National Cancer Registry Program date from the India Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the estimated mortality rate due to cancer saw around 6% increase between 2012 and 2014.
Yi Long Wu, president of Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology, told IANS, "Whatever advancement we (China) have in cancer research will be shared with other Asian countries. We are discussing the way to curb lung cancer in our country, which is extremely high in China."
