The deadly Ebola epidemic in West Africa has infected over 24,000 people. Healthcare workers have also been catching the disease in alarming numbers. Now an Australian woman, who was working as a medical professional in Liberia, is undergoing tests for Ebola in the capital city of Canberra after her return from the West African country.

Health officials said, "The health care worker did not treat any Ebola patients in Liberia due to the low number of cases in the country and it was very unlikely she had contracted the infection. On Friday, she started developing symptoms. It's very, very unlikely to be Ebola. It is overwhelmingly likely it is something else. Although she was working at an Ebola treatment clinic she actually didn't have any cases to treat. There are many other things you can get over there."

Until now there have been no cases of Ebola in Australia.
