Bamboo fibres could come to the rescue of Australians haunted by skin cancer. It is a country where 1200 people die of melanoma each year.


Ms Tarannum Afrin, a PhD candidate with the Centre for Material and Fibre Innovation at the Deakin University Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (ITRI), has found the property which gives bamboo its unique sun-blocking characteristics.
