Plans are afoot to telecast three-dimensional coverage of the royal wedding of British Prince William and his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton from Westminster Abbey on April 29.

Millions of people across the globe may get to watch Prince William tie the knot with Kate Middleton in 3-D.

Broadcaster BSkyB confirmed that they were "optimistic" about plans to show the royal wedding in 3-D but the final decision will lie with the palace.

And the BBC veteran, David Dimbleby, is said to be in talks with the satellite broadcaster over hosting the wedding.

Mike Darcey, Chief Operating Officer at BSkyB, said 3-D technology was suited to "event television". It recently launched a 3-D channel.

"I suspect the key decision maker is probably going to be the royal family, rather than the BBC," the Daily Mail quoted him as telling a meeting of the Broadcasting Press Guild.

"We're optimistic, we're hopeful that we can persuade them this will be a good thing," he added.
