by Dr. Trupti Shirole on December 6, 2014 at 3:58 PM

A pill that can fight cancer has been developed from broccoli by scientists of drug company Evgen. The pill acts by slowing the cancer growth and halting its spread.

Sulforaphane, a naturally occurring but highly unstable compound found in broccoli and other vegetables of the brassica family, including brussels sprouts, cauliflower and cabbage has anti-cancer and neuroprotective properties.

Eygen has a patent for the drug. A stabilized version of Sulforaphane is used which can be delivered as a tablet or capsule.
