Cambridge Consultants Unveils New Concept for Inkjet Printing Diagnostic Tests

Cambridge Consultants is a global product development and technology consultancy firm and the company has helped out many medical device manufacturers develop new healthcare products.


Now the consultancy company is unveiling a new concept for printing diagnostic test strips. The company on its website explains that the new plan aims to allow clinicians and pharmacists to use inkjet printers to easily produce tests specific to the needs of individual patients.

The XylemDx concept involves using a printer to embed various testing modules onto a piece of paper, including ones containing biological reagents within microfluidic components, folding the result into test strips. Patients can utilize this test strips.

The printer would layer wax to develop passages where chemical reactions to take place. A conducting ink can be used to connect tiny electronic components that can deliver heat or light onto the samples.
