Doctors at the Bhagwati Hospital in Kandivali area in Mumbai are being accused of medical negligence by a 30-year old carpenter
Doctors at the Bhagwati Hospital in Kandivali area in Mumbai are being accused of medical negligence by a 30-year old carpenter who lost his arm after falling out of a train.
Atmaram Yadav was pushed out of a Virar bound train at Kandivali station and met with an accident with another local train which resulted in a severed left arm. He was rushed to the Bhagwati Hospital where his wound was dressed up but doctors suggested that he move to a bigger hospital in order to undergo a surgery to join his severed arm.
When Yadav went to Sion hospital, he was told that his arm could not be attached since it was not preserved in an ice box, which would have prevented the decay of tissue. The acting dean of Sion Hospital Dr Suleman Merchant said that doctors at the Bhagwati Hospital were at fault for sending Yadav without any arrangement of preserving the arm.
"Our surgeons could have re-attached the limb if it was brought in a proper condition. There are certain rules that need to be followed in case of first aid. The doctors neglected them", he said.
