by Vishnuprasadon January 12, 2015 at 7:34 PM

The Centre has offered financial assistance to set up a new Ayurvedic Clinical Research Centre in Kerala to help scientifically validate traditional systems of healing and medicine and integrate them with mainstream public healthcare delivery.

"The State Government has proposed the clinical research centre in Konni and 50 acres of land is required. I assure that if the State Government provides the land, the Centre will provide all financial assistance," he said Minister of State for Ayush Shripad Yesso Naik at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Minister was in the capital city to announce the setting up of the National Centre of Excellence for Ayurveda Inspired Discovery by the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB). He also announced the National Arogya Expo 2015, which would be held in the capital city in April.

Naik said that ayurveda had much demand both in the country as well as abroad. "The efficacy of ayurvedic medicines should be maintained by the manufacturers so that scientific validity of ayurveda products at global-level could be established. This would help in promoting the Indian system of medicine, especially ayurveda," he added.

The National Centre of Excellence for Ayurveda Inspired Discovery is aimed at research into efficient mechanisms involved in ayurvedic therapeutics as well as to develop standardisation protocols and certification systems to help traditional medicines gain global acceptability.
