People looking to cut down the costs by opting for cheap reading glasses could be doing more harm to their eyes, an optometrist associated with Which? magazine reveals.

Around 14 such reading glasses were tested in the survey from seven high street stores and the optometrist revealed that more than half of the glasses had some problems which could cause a number of effects in the wearer such as headaches, double vision or blurred vision.

"Off-the-peg glasses could cause eye strain, blurred vision, headaches or double vision. For people with higher prescriptions, they're not suitable for walking or other mobile activities. They could even 'cause a nasty accident. This could cause eye problems or a head tilt", the optometrist told the Daily Mail.
