Childhood Obesity Rates Declining, Says Michelle Obama

by Sheela Philomena on February 27, 2013 at 12:21 PM

Michelle Obama says that she is happy about declining childhood obesity rates. "We've really changed the conversation in this country. When we started, there were a lot of people in this country who would have never thought that childhood obesity was a health crisis. But now we're starting to see some movement on this issue," the Politico quoted her as saying in a pre-taped interview on ABC's 'Good Morning America.'

She said that the kids are eating better at school now, and they're starting to see a change in the trends.

Rates of obesity are coming down like never before, she added.

The First Lady also discussed the new "My Plate" recipe partnership, which helps families find online recipes that fit with the US Department of Agriculture's "My Plate" guidelines.
