Could Spiders Help Prevent Malaria?

Scientists in Kenya have discovered an East African spider, Evarcha Culicivora that is attracted by the smell of human sweat. This spider preys on Anopheles Gambiae mosquito.

Scientists in Kenya have discovered an East African spider, Evarcha Culicivora that is attracted by the smell of human sweat. This spider preys on Anopheles Gambiae mosquito.


Anopheles Gambiae are mosquitoes that carry the malaria parasite and so the scientists believe that this discovery could help prevent malaria by encouraging people to keep these spiders in their homes.
