by Hannah Joy on December 24, 2020 at 2:15 PM

Over 1,424 Covid-19 mutations have been detected in Russia. However, none of them were found to be linked to the new strain reported in Britain.

"This is common routine work. None of these mutations are associated with changes in the properties of the virus, including its transmissibility and pathogenicity," Popova said during a meeting of the Russian government coordination council on curbing coronavirus infections, the Xinhua news agency reported.

‘New strain has been detected in Russia unlike the one detected in Britain. Researchers have said that a total of 1,424 Covid-19 mutations have been detected in Russia.’

After the discovery of a new mutant COVID-19 strain in Britain, a new strain was also detected in Australia and Italy.

India announced a temporary ban on flights coming from the UK till 11.59 p.m. on December 31 and the suspension commenced from 11.59 p.m. on December 22.

This was reported by Anna Popova, head of the country's consumer rights and human well-being watchdog Rospotrebnadzor.
