Delhi Sought Ban on 'Whiteners' As More Youngsters Abusing It

by VR Sreeraman on November 10, 2012 at 2:38 PM

With youngsters increasingly using the ink remover, popularly known as correction fluid, as a drug, the Delhi government has sought a total ban on it.

"The government is worried to see the extensive use of this whitener among young generation as a drug, which will destroy their life and it should be totally banned," said Education and Social Welfare Minister Kiran Walia.

"We have moved the proposal to the government with documents of detailed studies, arguing for a ban. We will implement the orders in the capital city soon to curb the drug menace," Walia said.

The union Health and Family Welfare Ministry had, in July, brought out a notification banning the production of bottled correction fluids as well as bottled thinners of any chemical composition.
