Dengue Cases Climb To 1,412
Taking the total of those infected by the mosquito-borne disease to 1,412 and deaths this year to five, Odisha confirmed 56 new dengue cases in the state and one death.
The latest victim was a 36-year-old woman from Bolangir district, joint director of the state health department M.M. Pradhan told IANS.
She died after prolonged illness while undergoing treatment at the Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Medical College hospital at Burla in the district of Sambalpur.
During the past two days, 56 patients were tested positive for the disease. The highest number of 19 and 14 have been reported from the districts of Khordha and Balasore, respectively, he added.
With the latest cases, the number of people infected this year in the state by the virus climbed to 1,412.
While the highest number of 438 cases have been reported from the district of Balasore, Ganjam stood at second spot reporting 413 cases.
