The Abbotts FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System comprises of a small sensor that scans the blood glucose levels. The reading can be obtained in less than a second. The system also stores the information upto eight hours and displays an arrow indicating the direction in which the glucose is heading. The device can be worn on the upper arm for 14 days and needs to be replaced accordingly. It is water-resistant and also much more convenient than conventional blood glucose devices.
The sensor can help all people who use insulin no matter whether they have type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes. Both the Freestyle Libre readers and the sensors cost $95 each.
