Doctors Perform a Unique Angioplasty to Save an Orthopedic Surgeon

Cardiac Surgeons at the Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad has given a new lease of life to another orthopedic surgeon suffering with heart disease.

Dr. Vishwanath Jadav (63) from Udgir, Maharashtra suffered from severe chest pain and breathlessness, where an ECG showed 99% of blockage in his arteries.

‘Surgeons performed a unique life-saving angioplasty using Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenator (ECMO) to save an orthopedic surgeon with blockages in his arteries.’

Surgeons immediately performed a unique life-saving angioplasty. Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenator (ECMO) is a device that works like a heart and lung machine, that supports the patient's circulation for a short period of time even if the heart/lung stops working. The patient was connected to it without opening up or anesthesia.

"It is the first angioplasty procedure successfully performed using ECMO at Hyderabad. This is yet another instance of a medical marvel achieved by the skill and expertise of the team of cardiologists," said Dr. V. Rajasekhar of Yashoda hospital.
