A latest report released by the government reveals that the number of driving deaths due to drunk driving fell down by more than 5 percent last year

The total number of accidents fell down by more than seven percent 8,050. Accidents involving serious injuries saw a decline by 9 percent to 1,480 while accidents involving slight injuries were 8 percent less at 10,130.
While Mike Penning expressed his happiness at the decline in drink driving accidents, the Road Safety Minister expressed his grief that a large number of people still died due to mistakes by others.
“I am encouraged by these latest figures, which show the number of drink-driving deaths falling to an all-time low. But 380 people still died because a small minority of drivers risked getting behind the wheel after drinking. We will continue to work to tackle this irresponsible minority and protect law-abiding road users”, he said.
