Energy Drink Maker Sued After Death of Teenage Girl

by Kathy Jones on October 22, 2012 at 7:25 PM

A California based energy drink maker is being sued for the death of a 14-year old girl with her parents alleging that the high amount of caffeine in the drink was responsible for the death of their daughter.

Anais Fournier suffered from a fatal heart attack back in December last year and the lawyers for the parents claim that it was due to the two energy drinks that she had consumed roughly around 24 hours before her death.

The lawyers said that the amount of caffeine in the two 700ml cans of Monster Energy drink was equal to the amount present in 14 Coca-Cola cans.

The parents have asked the California court to award them all damages allowed by law and punish the energy drink maker for failing to warn the public over the dangers posed by the drink. "These drinks are death traps for young, developing girls and boys like my daughter Anais. I just want Monster Energy to know their product can kill", her mother Wendy Crossland said.
