Even Young Women Experience Bladder Control Problems
Bladder control problems, often thought to be a problem among the older women, can affect young women too.
A survey among 1000 Australian women has pointed out that nearly 13 percent have suffered from urinary incontinence which has caused them to make a dash to the bathroom.
The study also showed that sexually active women who were not using birth control pills had the highest risk: sexually active women have a high rate of urinary tract infections and this can trigger incontinence.
It is still unclear if birth control pills, have any influence on bladder control problems.
"I think the most important take-home message is that if young women experience urinary incontinence they should not feel embarrassed to seek help," researchers said, welcoming more research on this subject to bring clarity to the triggers of urinary incontinence among women.
