A thought provoking insight has just given a clean chit to fat people provided they maintain a healthy lifestyle which includes physical activity, a diet containing adequate fruits and vegetables and of course the absence of lifestyle diseases like hypertension and diabetes.

What is more, good health among obese or overweight people may even give them a distinct advantage over their lean counterparts, even in terms of longevity.

According to study author Dr. Jennifer L. Kuk, assistant professor at York University School of Kinesiology & Health Science, obese people who eat healthy and exercise regularly are much better off than those who keep flip flopping on their weight.

Researchers undertook a comparative study on the death rate of 6,000 obese Americans and slim people over a 16-year span. This study revealed that the mortality rate of obese people with negligible health issues was at par with the lean ones.

The perceived connection between body weight and health is not as significant as the absence of lifestyle diseases like hypertension and diabetes, which has a bearing on the risk of cardiovascular disease.
