FDA and CDC Clear Enfamil Infant Formula
Enfamil infant formula steers clear of all the accusations of bacterial contamination leading to infant death.
The Food and Drug Association (FDA) and center for disease control (CDC) has cleared Enfamil Newborn formula by Mead Johnson. The CDC and FDA announced that they have not found any traces of Cronobacter sakazakii bacteria in any factory-sealed containers of powdered infant formula that were tested from the lot numbers in question.
Enfamil Newborn formula steers clear of all the accusations and was not related to any of the four cases of bacterial infection. CDC's laboratory conducted DNA fingerprinting of the bacteria from two recent cases of Cronobacter (Missouri and Illinois) showed that the bacteria were not related. The CDC is yet to determine how the contamination occurred.
The FDA stated that there was no need for a recall of infant formula and parents may continue using the powdered infant formula.
