Fear of Natural Birth Linked to Increase in Number of C-Sections
The number of caesarean section deliveries are increasing due to the fear of natural birth among would-be mothers.
A new study published in the journal Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica reveals that the number of caesarean section deliveries are increasing due to the fear of natural birth among would-be mothers.
The study was conducted by researchers from the University Hospital in Linkoping, Central Sweden who analyzed the delivery records of 353 women with fear of childbirth and 579 women who had no such fears.
The researchers found that women who feared natural birth more often than not opted for emergency caesarean sections and also requested elective caesarean delivery.
