Final Solo Appearance Before Baby Birth Made By 'Pregnant' Duchess Kate

The Duchess of Cambridge has conducted her last solo public engagement before childbirth that is expected to take place in July.

Kate attended a ship naming ceremony for a new cruise ship during a ceremony in Southampton.

She became godmother of the 'Royal Princess' after smashing a bottle of champagne into its hull, Sky News reported.

The Duchess, who is eight months pregnant, also boarded the ship for a brief tour.

The royal was seen wearing a black and white coat as she arrived in Southampton by helicopter from London and took her place on a stage in blustery conditions.

Guests included people associated with charities of which Kate, Prince William and Prince Harry are patrons.

Although it is reported that the event was the 31-year-old royal's last solo engagement, she is set to attend Trooping the Colour on Saturday.
