First Robot Pharmacy To Dispense Medicines in Dubai

Robot pharmacy or a smart pharmacy that deploys the use of a robot to dispense medicines at the Rashid Hospital in Dubai was inaugurated by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).


Robot was found to dispense the prescribed medicines by clicking the button on the prescribed bar code, therefore minimizing human error.

‘The robot can store 35,000 medicines and found to dispense about 12,000 medicines in less than a minute.’

The robot is a latest smart technology which is adopted by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) in 2016-2021 strategy and aims to achieve a happy and healthy society.

The robot may serve customers by storing 35,000 medicines and may dispense about 12,000 medicines in less than a minute.

The smart operation will be paper-free as the robot may store the documents electronically.

The Dubai Health Authority aims to develop a healthier and happier community. The authority aims to maximize the health care statistics and aspire the higher standards of excellence and professionalism.

The robot "will significantly reduce a person's waiting time" during the dispensing process, said, Dr. Ali Al Syed, director of the Pharmaceutical Services Department at Dubai.

The Dubai Health Authority has also planned to adopt the use of robots to dispense medicines in all hospitals shortly.
