Five More Cases of Swine Flu Reported in Lucknow
Five more cases of swine flu have been reported in Lucknow, taking the total number of swine flu cases to 36 in Uttar Pradesh, India. According to reports, three 45-year-old men, and two women, 31 and 25 years old, have tested positive for the H1N1 virus and are being treated at their homes.
The swine flu toll in Maharashtra has rose to 27. Five more deaths were reported in Rajasthan too, taking the toll in the state since the beginning of the year to 73.
Swine flu has killed 191 people in the country in January alone with southern state of Telangana being worst hit by the virus. So far, 2,038 people have been afflicted by this virus.
Swine flu is caused by H1N1 virus, and symptoms are similar to those produced by other influenza viruses like fever, cough, sore throat, body aches and respiratory problems. It is transmitted to people primarily from ticks and livestock animals with an incubation period of up to 9-days. Human-to-human transmission takes up to 2-weeks.
