Government-supplied Drugs Found in Private Medical Center in Odisha, India

Raids conducted on private hospitals in Berhampur, in the Indian state of Odisha, by revenue, health and drug control officials found large quantities of government-supplied medicines.


"We have found 18 varieties of antibiotics and injectable medicines, which were supplied by the government to its hospitals, from the private medical center. The medicines are worth over Rs one lakh. A case has been registered against the owner of the hospital," said, S Biswal, Drugs Inspector (Berhampur).

The team raided four private hospitals to check the authenticity of their registration and infrastructure facilities.

"Details about working of nursing homes will be known after assessing the reports of the raiding team," said chief district medical officer Mrutunjay Mishra.
