Gujarat Reports More Swine Flu Cases in India
Gujarat has the maximum number of swine flu cases and deaths in the country. With 40 new swine flu cases reported in the state on March 17, Gujarat overtook Rajasthan taking the number of swine flu cases in the state to 6,226 since January this year. Rajasthan recorded 6,209 swine flu cases in the same period.
Swine flu claimed five more lives in Gujarat on March 17, taking the death toll to 397, while Rajasthan has recorded 369 deaths so far.
According to health department officials, Ahmedabad has become the epic-center of swine flu outbreak. The number of swine flu cases reported now are lower with higher temperatures.
Ahmedabad and Surat reported 12 new swine flu cases each, while Rajkot reported 5 new cases on March 17, while Ahmedabad, Kutch, Banaskantha, Kheda and Gir-Somnath reported one death each.
A total of 5,438 people have been cured of the disease till date, according to the health department of the state. A senior state health official said, "In the coming seven days, swine flu numbers will scale down."
The health depart officials have encouraged various medical bodies to hold health camps to identify H1N1 positive patients and provide adequate treatment at early stages.
