The sex ratio in Farmana, a village in Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's home district Rohtak, is one of the lowest- 648 girls to 1000 boys. The sex ratio in the 0-6years group is 804 girls to 1000 boys. The ratio in the same age group in the state has increased from 819 to 837.
Civil surgeon Dr. V.K. Govila informed that in 2009 the village had a sex ratio of 821 to 1,000. But this ratio has been falling every month. He said, "The ratio had dropped to as low as 592:1,000 in October. It improved after several clinics were raided in Meham town, about 10 km from the village. A centre carrying out ultrasound tests was also sealed."
CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda has promised curb female feticide to boost the state's flagging sex ratio.
