Drink Boiled Greek Coffee and Live Long

Do you wish to improve your cardiovascular health and live a long life? Sip a cup of Greek coffee! The caffeine present in the Greek coffee is the key to a healthy and long life.


Records show that merely 0.1 percent of Europeans lived to the age of 90 years and more while 1 percent of inhabitants of Ikaria lived for more than 90 years of age.

The scientists were amazed to see these records and tried to find out the reason behind the islander's amazing health. The experts tried to find out the relationship of longevity and drinking boiled Greek coffee.

Dr. Gerasimos Siasos, a medical doctor and professor at the University of Athens Medical School and the lead author of the study stated, "Boiled Greek type of coffee, which is rich in polyphenols and antioxidants and contains only a moderate amount of caffeine, seems to gather benefits compared to other coffee beverages." We all wish to live long and remain healthy lifelong.

The inhabitants of ancient Greek island Ikaria lived for many years and remained healthy, credit goes to coffee. Scientists believe that the secret of long life lies with daily caffeine intake.

The researchers from the University of Athens Medical School conducted a study to establish a link between the cardiovascular health of elderly inhabitants of Ikaria island and the consumption of boiled Greek coffee. The study was later published in the journal Vascular Medicine

Out of 673 Ikarians aged above 65 years, the scientists randomly chose 71 women and 71 men for the purpose of study. The volunteers were asked questions pertaining to diabetes, blood pressure and other ailments. They were also asked questions regarding their lifestyle, coffee habits and medical health.

Their endothelium functions were was also tested by the scientists. �The endothelium is a layer of cells that lines blood vessels, which is affected both by aging and by lifestyle habits, such as smoking.'

According to the scientists past studies have revealed that mild intake of coffee not only lowers the risk of coronary heart ailments but also has a favorable impact on various aspects of endothelial health. The experts discovered that about 87 percent of the enrolled people drank boiled Greek coffee daily.

These enrolled volunteers showed better functioning of endothelium as compared to those who consumed other types of coffee. Even individuals with high blood pressure showed better endothelial functioning due to their habit of drinking boiled Greek coffee.

Dr. Gerasimos Siasos said, "Boiled Greek type of coffee, which is rich in polyphenols and antioxidants and contains only a moderate amount of caffeine, seems to gather benefits compared to other coffee beverages." The study highlighted that endothelial functions were improved in individuals drinking boiled Greek coffee regularly and the coffee consumption did not resulted in any adverse effect on blood pressure.

The scientists however felt the need for further studies to point out the exact benefits of coffee on the cardiovascular health of the boiled Greek coffee drinkers.
