Hepatitis C Risk from Amateur Tattoos

Beware of amateur tattoos as they carry a risk of hepatitis C.

Earlier research has shown that tattoos from non-professionals can enhance the risk of blood borne liver infection.

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reads: "Tattoos and piercings can transmit hepatitis C and other infections if performed under non-sterile conditions. People should not have tattoos or piercings done by friends or by people who are not trained professionals."
